Nikki's Type 1 Diabetes Fundraiser
It has been over 5 years since I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. That's 60 months; 1825 days of managing this chronic disease. It is said that the average person with T1D makes over 300 decisions a day. Over 500,000 decisions since that day in 2014.
In the years since my Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis, I often find myself struggling to find the positive in it all. Honestly, a lot of days it is hard to find a positive but the thought that keeps me motivated is the children who face this disease every day. Camp Kudzu is dedicated to Type 1 kids.
Camp Kudzu has been organizing summer camps for children with T1D since 1999. It is a magical time where kids do not have to make 300 daily decisions - at least, not alone. I am honored to volunteer with them throughout the year and for a week each summer at one of the sessions. The experiences that the campers have are wonderful and the chance to be a "normal" kid is priceless.
On October 20th, I will once again ride 27 miles in Spin For Kids because I want to be a POSITIVE in the lives of children living with T1D. Please support my efforts by donating. Any amount you give would be GREATLY appreciated.
