On October 15th, for our third year the Lockton team will be riding in Spin For Kids to raise money for Camp Twin Lakes, an incredible organization that provides camp programs for children with serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges. Last year we raised over $7,000 and this year our goal is $10,000. Camp Twin Lakes served over 10,000 campers, levereged support from 3,500 volunteers, and subsidized 70% ($550/week) of the direct camp costs for every camper served.
Why We Ride
One of our associate's nephew is Brian "B-Money" Murkison, a 13 year that was nearly killed in a car accident when he was 6 and acquired Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). His chance of survival was slim and if he did live, his doctors felt he'd never have a normal life. Brian worked hard and made a strong recovery; however he still struggles with certain activies.
Brian has attended Camp Twin Lakes' TBI (To Be Independent) for four years where he is able to participate in water sports, wheelchair basketball, archery and even track & field. All of these activites are adapted so Brian and the other campers are able to participate.
Due to medical bills and related expenses, most campers would not be able to attend without the support of Spin For Kids. Every $550 our team raises funds one week of camp for a Camp Twin Lakes camper. During one week at CTL, that camper could conquer their fear of the zip line, discover hidden archery talents, learn how to swim in the accessible pool, and make new friends who understand the unique challenges of their disability, serious illness, or other life challenges. Camp gives kids an opportunity to build their confidence and capabilities without worrying about their extraordinary day to day challenges.
Why You Should Sponsor Our Team
100% of the money you donate goes directly to campers at Camp Twin Lakes, so your gift will make a difference in a child's life! We're taking this challenge together, and we hope you'll join us as we change gears to change lives!
